Mechanics’ Liens

A mechanics’ lien may be filed by any licensed or registered contractor or supplier that has provided labor or materials for a building or structure on real property.  Through this lawsuit, a lien is placed against the real property in an effort to collect payment.  If payment is not received, then the mechanic’s lien may be foreclosed upon, and the property owner may be responsible for paying. Notice of a mechanics’ lien must be filed and served within ninety (90) days after the last day labor or materials were provided to the property.
